ABSTRACT

Bad nursing service quality is usually related to nurses’ bad performance since their medical service will affect their own satisfaction with what they have done. On the other hand, compensation give by hospital management is not balanced with their big work load. An interviews with the nurses at the Royal Prima Hospital, Medan, revealed that all of them (100%) admitted that the compensation given the hospital management was too little, compared with their work load. It was also found that nearly 30% of the nurses left the hospital. The objective of the research was to identify the influence of medical service distribution of nurses’ performance at the Royal Prima Hospital, Medan. The research used quantitative and analytical survey method. The population and the samples were 224 practice nurses at the Royal Prima Hospital. The data were analyzed by using logistic regression analysis. The result of the research showed that of the four principles in distributing medical service, the fairness principle was the one which influenced nurses’ performance. It is recommended that the hospital management make a regulation on medical service distribution, especially for nurses.
